4th release of 5G PPP white paper on 5G architecture published
In version 4.0 of the white paper “View on 5G Architecture”, the 5G PPP Architecture Working Group provides a consolidated view of the architectural efforts developed in the projects of the 5G PPP and other research efforts, including standardization. This serves not only to review the current state of the 5G architecture, but also to identify promising trends towards the next generation of mobile and wireless communication networks, 6G.
The 4th release of the white paper is focused on the output of the 5G PPP Phase 3 projects in terms of the architecture for the integration of large infrastructures and vertical industries, the long-term evolution of the 5G technologies and the service-specific features. The white paper presents a consolidated current overview on the 5G architecture as developed by these European research efforts.
The 5G-VINNI project made numerous substantial contributions to the white paper, for example in the sections related to testing as a service, network slice ordering and lifecycle management as well as inter-operator slice configuration and slice federation.
